Wednesday 9th November – Trump Selecta

Today America voted for Donald Trump aka The Donald aka wtf aka RUDUMB.COM to be their 45th President! Ayyyyy that’s one way to distract me from Brexit but come now…

Here’s a potent reminder of the racist misogynist that America has just elected.

This is Ashnikko ft Raf Riley with “Please don’t grab my pussy” because you know, the new POTUS advocates you just grab em by the pussy.

Here’s to whatever the f happens next …drinks whisky

“You try to build a wall I’ll push you off like humpty dumpty…”

Tuesday 8th November – Daily Selecta

I had the pleasure last night to see Mr Lif & L’Orange live at the Jazz Café.

It was a super intimate event and Mr Lif is the coolest mutha out here. His voice is a dream harking back to pure 90’s hip hop vocals. He doesn’t swear, he raps about real shit and his verbal repertoire is something to be admired.

I felt more intelligent and enlightened with every track. L’Orange provides the sick nuanced beats that give Mr Lif’s tracks a lif’.

He performed this at the end of his set, this is ‘a palace in the sky’ off Mr Lif and L’Orange’s upcoming album “The Life and Death of Scenery”.

Sunday 6th November – Daily Selecta

This is SICK. Beyond vibey. Perfect for a Sunday after a long ass weekend celebrating my 25th birthday. Sokoto is an 18 year old producer from Belgium – peep the dutch on a grimey beat.

Tangram Records is an independent Belgian-based record label. It was founded in 2012 by Up High Collective and Mophito to promote a batch of unreleased beats and live-show by Up High. Throughout the years their releases got picked up by Gilles Peterson, Lefto, XLR8R, Boiler Room and Kutmah…amongst others. Now 4 years later Tangram has introduced a wide-range of talented musicians to the world. Without wanting to limit them to a certain genre you might say their releases are a celebration of electronics and hip-hop.

The compilation itself holds 6 previously unreleased tracks by Up High Collective, Faisal, LTGL, LoneBlue x Halibab Matador (aka YellowStraps), Le Motel and Sokoto. Each side of the vinyl ends with a previously released track on Tangram by Day Fly and Moodprint blending the entire release nicely together.

This track by Sokoto is the first taste of their The Gold Play-compilation.

Here is a link to the compilation:

Enjoy y’all.

Wednesday 2nd November – BIRTHDAY SELECTA

My tune of the day has to be MHD – Afrotrap 5.

It reminds me of Marseille. French rap is too sick. Afrobeats is too sick. Put the two together and it’s a TING.

MHD aka Mohamed Sylla is from the 19th arrondissement of Paris. He is also part of the rap collective 19 Réseaux with other rappers. He is a mix of Guinean and Senegalese origins. Afro-Trap is my favourite thing to listen to.

A mash up of big beats and bars that sound hard.

Tuesday 1st November – Daily Selecta

Last week Levelz released a video for their track Slow Down.

The song is off the LVL 11 Mixtape which has been out since January. It’s nice to get some visuals to go with this tune that still bangs so hard.

Here’s a link to LVL 11 Mixtape (Free Download):

Levelz is made up of 14 members all repping different styles and sounds.

The main producers and musicians are Biome, Bricks, Chimpo, Dub Phizix and Metrodome, with lyrics handled by Black Josh, Chunky, Fox, Skittles, Sparkz, T-Man and Truthos Mufasa; Jonny and Rich complete the crew as DJs.

This is a sick article on Levelz. Have a read my G’s and familiarise yourself with the manny mandem.
