Sat Sri Akaal. Namaste. Shalom. Salaam Alaikum. Wagwan.
Hi everyone. I love grime and enjoy long walks through the rave.
On a serious note, welcome. I am 25, British Sikh of Punjabi descent, born and bred in Birmingham, pursuing a career in politics whilst living in Peckham.
I’m here to give Westminster politics a dash of colour. I don’t know if you’ve noticed it’s pretty white.
With two very strong identities I find it difficult to balance being British and Indian. My experiences with British politics have been interesting to say the least. As I continue my pursuit for REAL BME representation in politics and the opportunity to help address the issues that affect BME communities – I shall write.
I had the pleasure of being a part of Sadiq Khan’s Mayoral Campaign and am now continuing my work with Labour as Youth Officer for Camberwell and Peckham. My mission is to get as many yout involved as possible. If you think politics is a dead ting – do something about it and change that. Come through.
I am an avid mental health campaigner and will not rest until this government promises and delivers the funding that mental health services need. Mental health in BME communities in particular is something I want to address and raise awareness for. I am currently working with Southwark Council in contributing to the Health and well-being manifesto.
I am working alongside Vicky Foxcroft MP (Lewisham Deptford) on the cross party Youth Violence Commission to increase engagement from underrepresented members of the community. I am looking to form and maintain relationships with those affected by youth violence and as artist liaison to engage with music artists and public figures to become ambassadors for the Commission. If you are interested in this please contact me.
Also follow for book, music and event reviews (not everyday rant).
March with me.
